As I think through where Vineyard is today and where it’s headed tomorrow, here are some pressing issues I think the city is facing and how I will address them as your next city council member.

Working for you. Working for Vineyard

My family chose to live here because of the high quality of life and opportunity Vineyard offers. As Vineyard grows, keeping that charm that makes it the best place to live, work and play is key. Creating ownership options is one of Vineyard’s best opportunities; it is a place for residents to live while attending school, raising a family, connecting as professionals driving talent into our local economy, retirement, and a final resting place. How we grow matters. My goal in serving Vineyard is to cut inefficiencies that allow Vineyard residents a more fulfilling life.  I plan to preserve the heritage and history of the community while building upon the history and heritage we are creating together as a growing community.

Communication and Transparency

One thing I love about Vineyard is how active and involved its citizens are. I want to foster and grow that activity and input. I’ll prioritize open dialogue with residents, ensuring transparency in decision-making processes. Additionally, I’ll focus on providing optimal tools that are available to the public, securing political efficacy, establishing better-performing administrative and legislative procedures, and spurring community engagement. I want Vineyard to be a place where people are proud to live and knowledgeable and optimistic about its plans for the future.

Transportation and Parking

One of the first noticeable aspects of a city is how easy or difficult it is to get around. I’ve been actively involved in Vineyard’s recent Master Transportation and Active Transportation Plans, pushing for improvements and advocating as a strong voice in the community. I will work to improve Vineyard’s street network, enhancing. its connectivity and providing better access to improve Vineyard’s transportation infrastructure, ensuring families can get to their destinations safely and comfortably. Addressing parking concerns around popular areas will be a top priority.

Fiscal Management

As a council member, I’ll advocate for responsible fiscal practices, ensuring taxpayer money is utilized efficiently and for the city’s long-term benefit. I want future generations of city leaders and residents to benefit from the responsible financial practices of today. Transparent budgeting and fiscal accountability are essential. I know the importance of diversifying our tax base and bringing in essential business to create a stronger community.

Economic Development and Proper Planning

My vision is to promote balanced economic growth while preserving Vineyard’s small-town charm. I want Vineyard to be a destination for businesses and entrepreneurs throughout the region. Thoughtful planning, attracting diverse businesses, and nurturing local entrepreneurship are vital. I’ve been actively engaging and working with our local businesses to find ways to innovate regulatory practices that will lessen the burdens placed on local entrepreneurs helping small businesses succeed and grow. As a home to several higher education facilities, I will make sure that we are effectively working together to build and created economic opportunity and development in a way that supports a strong community.

Public Safety: Fire and Police

As the city continues to grow, so to do the public safety needs of the city. I’ll make sure that proper infrastructure for police and fire departments will be a top priority and ensure that they have the proper resources, training, and community partnerships to ensure the safety and well-being of Vineyard’s residents. Vineyard is about to build its first fire station. I’ve been actively engaged and will continue to advocate for the best resources for our community.

Aesthetics and Amenities

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I love Vineyard. One of the reasons I love Vineyard is its commitment to creating beautiful, usable spaces. I was on the city’s Central Corridor Park Planning committee where I advocated for the residents, and I’m excited about the future plans and the city’s commitment to investing in parks and recreational facilities to enrich the quality of life for all residents. Aesthetically, we have an opportunity to prioritize our access points into the community, which represent Vineyard, and play a significant role in landing quality industry that will serve the community. Vineyard has been actively planning and prioritizing funding for projects throughout the city. I will make sure projects reflect the needs and desires of the people who live work and play in the community, and bring them to completion.

Privacy and Freedom

I believe that everyone has a right to both individual privacy and freedom. I’ll champion residents’ privacy rights while fostering an environment that respects individual freedoms and diverse perspectives.

Tourism and Conservation

Vineyard has an incredible asset in Utah Lake. I will follow the plans created by the residents to clean up and restore the lakefront to give residents an amazing and beautiful place to recreate. Once complete, the lakefront will be an attraction that will draw visitors that will help build a healthy economy. I’ll work to balance this vibrant landscape that boosts the local economy while effectively preserving Vineyard’s natural beauty, wetlands, and open space. I believe quiet places in communities are as important as active gathering places for connection. Sustainable economic practices and conservation efforts will be at the forefront of my service.
